When printing a check to the screen, the MICR font appears, but when we send the check to the printer the font appears as block characters.
First check the printer. If you use a recommended printer such as the HP M607 as we recommend. Ensure the MICR font is installed on the user's workstation and if applicable the remote server's Windows\Fonts folder where GP is installed.
1. Open the Windows Fonts folder on the workstation from which you are printing checks by selecting Start > Settings > Control Panel > Fonts. Double-click on the Fonts folder to open it.
2. Select File > Install New Font. You see the Add Fonts screen. From the Folders list, select the path to your GP Dynamics launch directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP). The MICRe13b.ttf font appears in the List of fonts.
3. Highlight the MICRe13b.ttf font and click OK or Install. If the message "The...font is already installed" displays, reboot your machine.
NOTE: If the font is being installed on a Citrix or Terminal Services machine, you must reboot the machine. In addition, if you are printing checks over a Citrix or Terminal Services machine, then the MICRe13b.ttf font may need to be installed on the local machine or network.
Test the MICR font is installed by opening MS-Notepad and selecting the MICR font, and when you enter a string of numbers from your keypad you should see the MICR font to Notepad. Then print to the printer for a test.
We have seen cases where the please HP M607 PCL 6 Printer Driver (link 3 below) needed to be re-installed.
