When I print a check to the printer it prints gibberish.
Printers generate gibberish or wingding characters when they cannot properly interpret the data stream. Random white spaces and wingdings print instead of the expected report. Causes include: incorrect printer driver; corrupt printer driver; printer not receiving the start of the print job; loose or damaged cables; damaged printer port; incorrect page description language (PDL) setting; network errors.

Step 3:
Clear the printer queue.
To do this:
1. Open Printers by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Printers.
2. To open the print queue, double-click the printer that you're using. Cancel all the print jobs.
Step 4:
Uninstall and reinstall printer
To uninstall printer:
1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
2. Right-click the printer that you want to remove, click Remove device, and then click Yes.
*If you can't delete the printer, right-click it again, click Run as administrator, click Remove device, and then click Yes. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, enter the password or provide confirmation.
