Why did my printing stop in the middle of the run?
If it is a local printer it is likely set to spool on the local drive. If it is a network printer, likely spool on the server drive. It is possible to redirect the drive to where the print job spools. To confirm the spooling drive on the local machine (if printing to a local printer) or on the print server, go to Start > Settings > Printers. Right-click on the applicable printer and select Open. In the Printers dialog box, select File > Server Properties. The Advanced tab displays where the machine is set to spool.
To see how much spooling space will be required, you must print a sample batch of checks. Before clicking the Print button on the Print Job Setup screen, turn off the printer you would be sending the checks to, then click the Print button. Open the applicable printer and see how large the print file is. Divide the kilobytes by the number of checks in the batch to get the approximate average size of your checks. The spooling space required by a check run will by a multiple of the size of each check and the number of checks in the batch. You can also see how much spooling space is being used by noting the available space on the spooling drive, creating a large batch, and then from the Print Mekorma MICR Payables Checks screen, click Print. After the Progress screen has closed, recheck the available space on the spooling drive, and note the difference between the two values.
